Hi, I’m Ashley Prior, owner and founder of Priority Painting Company. 

My passion is to make places feel beautiful and customers feel proud of their space.

For the last five years, I’ve helped transform rooms, homes, furniture, and businesses in the greater Traverse City area. 

But my excitement for painting started as a little girl when my parents empowered me to design and paint my bedroom. Soon enough, I was assisting with my father’s contracting business and noticed a consistent gap in the quality and craftsmanship of the finishing paint work. When the time came for me to branch out on my own, I sought to raise that standard and immersed myself in the painting and finishing trade.

For example, a standard-sized bedroom (just walls) typically takes at least one full day to complete. A kitchen cabinet painting project often takes 5–7 working days due to the detailed prep and finishing process. A full main floor repaint, including walls and trim, may take 1–2 weeks. During your estimate, we’ll provide a clear timeline based on your specific space and needs.

  • We use high-quality, professional-grade products for every project. For interior walls, we typically use Sherwin-Williams Duration for its durability and beautiful finish. For trim and woodwork, we rely on Benjamin Moore Scuff-X, which resists scuffs and wear. Cabinetry paint options vary based on your budget and desired finish. We can walk you through the best choices during your estimate!

  •  We’ve got you covered! We handle all the surface preparation, including light sanding, patching, and cleaning as needed to ensure a smooth, long-lasting finish. Prep is one of the most important parts of our process, and we take it seriously.

    All floors, furniture, and fixtures are carefully covered using a combination of paper, plastic, drop cloths, and painter’s tape. Once the job is done, we also thoroughly clean up, sweeping or vacuuming any dust and debris before removing our protective coverings. Your space is left clean, fresh, and ready to enjoy.

  • While we don’t offer financing at this time, we do accept a variety of convenient payment methods, including check, credit card, Venmo, and Zelle.

  • Yes, we are more than happy to offer our professional opinion on color choices to help guide your vision. For more in-depth support or precise color matching, we recommend working with the local Sherwin-Williams color experts, who offer excellent tools and personalized advice.
